It was originally sung in the <a title="Film" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film">movie</a> <em><a title="Breakfast at Tiffany's (film)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakfast_at_Tiffany%27s_%28film%29">Breakfast at Tiffany&#8217;s</a></em> by <a title="Audrey Hepburn" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audrey_Hepburn">Audrey Hepburn</a>, although it has been covered by many other artists. <p>It became the theme song for <a title="Andy Williams" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Williams">Andy Williams</a>, who first recorded it in 1961 and performed it at the <a title="Academy Awards" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Awards">Academy Awards</a> ceremonies in 1962. He sang the first eight bars at the beginning of <a title="The Andy Williams Show" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Andy_Williams_Show">his television show</a> and also named his production company and venue in <a title="Branson, Missouri" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Branson,_Missouri">Branson, Missouri</a> after it. Williams&#8217; version was disliked by Cadence Records president <a title="Archie Bleyer" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archie_Bleyer">Archie Bleyer</a>, who believed it had little or no appeal to teenagers.<sup>[<em><a title="Wikipedia:Citation needed" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed">citation needed</a></em>]</sup> Andy Williams&#8217; version never charted, except as an LP track, which he recorded for Columbia in a hit album of 1962. <pre>{c:Intro:}
[C] [Cmaj7] [C(add9)] [C] [Asus2] [Asus4] [Am] [Asus2]
[C(add9)] [C] [Cmaj7] [C(add9)] [Am] [Asus2] [Asus4] [Am]

I cl[C]ose m[G]y [Am]eyes, [G]only for a moment and the m[Am]oment's gone.
All my dreams, pass before my eyes a curiosity.

D[Dm]ust in the w[Am]ind, [G]all they are is dust in the w[Am]ind.

Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea.
All we do, crumbles to the ground though we refuse to see.

Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind.

Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky.
It slips away, all your money won't another minute buy.

Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind.
Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind.</pre>

<p style="text-align: left;"><em>April come she will </em>is a song written by Paul Simon.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;"><em>Utilizing the changing seasons as a metaphor for the capriciousness of a girl, &#8220;<strong>April Come She Will</strong>&#8221; was used very effectively in the film The Graduate and its soundtrack. Written in England in 1964 following a brief affair that Paul Simon had during his stay there, the lyrics were inspired by a nursery rhyme that the</em><em> girl in question recited.</em></p>
<p>The changing seasons is merely a metaphor for the love affair he had in England and describes the different stages it went through until it ended.</p>
<p>P.S. This is the original nursery rhyme:</p>
<p><em>The cuckoo comes in April<br />
She sings her song in May<br />
In June she changes her tune<br />
In July she prepares to fly<br />
In August go she must. </em></p>

Subject: TAB: April Come She Will (Simon &amp; Garfunkel)

Here's the TAB for Simon &amp; Garfukel's "April Come She Will". Play the
section between the double bars and "o"s three times through, these marks are
supposed to look like the symbol to repeat. However, when you get to the final
four measures the third time, skip the ones marked "\\1,2\" and continue on to
"\\3\". To match the recording, try using a capo at the first or second
fret, I can't recall which. The chord shapes are all actually fairly basic,
use:
	G/D (xx0787), G6/D (xx0780), D (xx0775), G (3x0003), C/G (3x2013), Am
(x02210), Emadd4/G (3x220x), Fmaj7 (1x221x) (for this one use either your thumb
or barre an Am shaped chord to get the bottom note), Em (022000), C (x3201x)
and Dadd4 (x5403x).

June, she'll change her tune.
In restless walks she'll prowl the night.
July, she will fly
And give no warning to her flight.

August, die she must.
The autumn winds blow chilly and cold.
September, I'll remember
A love once new has now grown old.

The song &#8220;is just basically John doing Dylan&#8221;, McCartney later said.<a style="text-decoration: none; color: #0645ad; background-image: none; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: initial; white-space: nowrap; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You've_Got_to_Hide_Your_Love_Away#cite_note-dowling-0"><span>[</span>1<span>]</span></a> Lennon seems to mimic Dylan&#8217;s gruff vocal style: the song is in a folkish <a style="text-decoration: none; color: #0645ad; background-image: none; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: initial; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;" title="Strophic form" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strophic_form">strophic form</a> and uses a Dylanesque acoustic guitar figure in <a class="mw-redirect" style="text-decoration: none; color: #0645ad; background-image: none; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: initial; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;" title="Compound time" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compound_time">compound time</a>, chiefly acoustic accompaniment, no backing voices and light percussion from brushed snare, tambourine and maraca. The lyrics of Dylan&#8217;s 1964 song &#8220;I Don&#8217;t Believe You (She Acts Like We Have Never Met)&#8221; open with a strikingly similar image: &#8220;I can&#8217;t understand, she let go of my hand, and left me here facing the wall&#8221;, as compared with Lennon&#8217;s &#8220;Here I stand head in hand, turn my face to the wall&#8221;. <p style="text-align: left;">&#8220;Annie&#8217;s Song&#8221; is a song recorded and written by singer-songwriter John Denver. It was his second number one song in the USA, occupying that spot for two weeks in July 1974. It also went to number one in the UK, where it was Denver&#8217;s only major hit single (many of Denver&#8217;s American hits were more familiar in the UK through cover versions by other artists).</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">&#8220;Annie&#8217;s Song&#8221; was written as an ode to Denver&#8217;s then-wife, Annie Denver (née Martell). Denver &#8220;wrote this song in about ten-and-a-half minutes one day on a ski lift&#8221; to the top of Bell Mountain in Aspen, Colorado, as the physical exhilaration of having &#8220;just skied down a very difficult run&#8221; and the feeling of total immersion in the beauty of the colors and sounds that filled all senses inspired him to think about his wife.[1][2]</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">The song has since become a wedding standard and an expression of love for many people, due to its grand imagery and the fact it could apply to anyone (Annie is not mentioned by name in any part of the song). She is referred to directly or indirectly in at least four of his songs.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">He met Kathy Chitty on 12 April 1964 at the very first English folk club he played, the Railway Inn Folk Club in Brentwood, Essex. She was 17, he was 22 and they fell in love. Later that year they visited the US together, touring around mainly by bus. Kathy returned to England on her own with Simon returning to her some weeks later. When he was back in London he recorded the album <em><a title="The Paul Simon Songbook" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Paul_Simon_Songbook">The Paul Simon Songbook</a></em> that included &#8220;Kathy’s Song&#8221;, and had a photo of Simon and Kathy on the cover. Also included in the album was another version of &#8220;The Sound of Silence&#8221;. (Wiki)</p>

<p>In <a title="1953 in music" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_in_music">1953</a>, <a title="BBC Radio" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Radio">BBC Radio</a> aired the choir&#8217;s winning performance at <a title="Llangollen" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Llangollen">Llangollen</a> <a title="International Eisteddfod" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Eisteddfod">International Eisteddfod</a>, an annual arts festival in north-east <a title="Wales" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wales">Wales</a>. The broadcast turned the cheerful encore into an instant hit. On <span title="1954-01-22"><span title="01-22"><a title="January 22" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/January_22">January 22</a></span>, <a title="1954" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1954">1954</a></span>, the song entered <a title="One-hit wonders in the UK" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-hit_wonders_in_the_UK#1950s">the UK singles chart</a>, and would stay on the chart &#8211; only a Top 12 at the time &#8211; for 26 non-consecutive weeks. With BBC Radio&#8217;s strong international influence, &#8220;The Happy Wanderer&#8221; suddenly turned up everywhere, e.g. as the winning song of the 1955 <a title="Calypso music" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calypso_music">calypso</a> road march season of the <a title="Trinidad Carnival" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trinidad_Carnival">Trinidad Carnival</a> (prompting protest that from now on, only calypsoes should be chosen over foreign music).</p>
<p>The amateur choir, many of whose original members were war <a title="Orphan" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orphan">orphans</a>, turned into an unlikely international phenomenon in the following years. The group performed on countless international tours under the name Obernkirchen Children&#8217;s Choir, with performances on TV shows such as <em><a title="The Ed Sullivan Show" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ed_Sullivan_Show">The Ed Sullivan Show</a></em> (<span title="1964-11-29"><span title="11-29"><a title="November 29" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/November_29">November 29</a></span>, <a title="1964" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964">1964</a></span>, and <span title="1966-12-11"><span title="12-11"><a title="December 11" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_11">December 11</a></span>, <a title="1966" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1966">1966</a></span>).</p>
<p>The song&#8217;s original German lyrics have been translated into several languages, and it has since become a choir classic. <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.scoutsongs.com/lyrics/happywanderer.html">The English lyrics</a> were written by <a title="Antonia Ridge (page does not exist)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Antonia_Ridge&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1">Antonia Ridge</a>. <a title="Milton DeLugg" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_DeLugg">Milton DeLugg</a> wrote a famous arrangement, and is sometimes falsely credited as the composer of the song. <pre><span style="font-family: Courier;">
   A E7
I love to go a-wandering along the mountain track,

    E7 D Bm D E7 A
And as I go, I love to sing, my knapsack on my back.

Refrain:

       E7 A
Val-da-ree, val-da-rah,

       E7 A D A D
Val-da-ree, val-da-rah ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha

       E7 A
Val-da-ree, val-da-rah,

    D E7 A
My knapsack on my back.

I love to wander by the stream that dances in the sun;
So joyously it calls to me, 霤ome, join my happy song!?
Refrain:
Val-da-ree, val-da-rah,
Val-da-ree, val-da-rah ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Val-da-ree, val-da-rah, come, join my happy song.

I wave my hat to all I meet, and they wave back to me,
And blackbirds call so loud and sweet from ev'ry green wood tree.

Refrain:
Val-da-ree, val-da-rah,
Val-da-ree, val-da-rah ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Val-da-ree, val-da-rah, from ev'ry green wood tree.

Oh, may I go a-wandering until the day I die;
Oh, may I always laugh and sing beneath God's clear blue sky,.

Refrain:
Val-da-ree, val-da-rah,
Val-da-ree, val-da-rah ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Val-da-ree, val-da-rah, beneath God's clear blue sky.
